Chayanne Announces 2004 North American Tour
Miami, FL- February 4, 2004 - Latin-pop icon Chayanne announces
a North American tour that will take the Puerto Rican heartthrob and multi-media
superstar across the United States through Spring 2004. Vivelo!, a Clear
Channel Entertainment / Televisa company, is proud to be the exclusive
promoter for these dates. Chayanne is the first artist signed exclusively
with Vivelo.
Chayanne's performances are feasts for the senses featuring eye-popping
visuals, elaborate dance moves and stunning musicianship. In the past,
Chayanne has collaborated with world-renowned choreographers Kenny Ortega,
Vince Paterson and Jerry Evans. He is thrilled by the challenge of topping
even his own very high standards with this new tour. "Everything that
comes along with a show, with choreography, revitalizes me. It's something
that I'm very passionate about," says Chayanne.
He is hitting the road in support of his latest Sony International release,
Sincero. On this disc (his eleventh), Chayanne breaks new sonic and stylistic
ground, taking a more varied approach with his writing and arrangements.
Sincero blends his trademark tender love songs and earthy dance beats
with traditional salsa rhythms, ska-tinged rock and even a few bluesy
touches. It is a brave step for such a popular and established artist,
but the effect is moving. Critics agree-Sincero was nominated for a Grammy
in the "Best Latin Pop Album" category.
Chayanne's smoldering good looks and abundance of talent have made him
a star of stage, screen and record across the globe. Worldwide, his sales
figures number in the millions. He has collected more than 70 platinum
and gold records and he has had over 17 Top Ten singles worldwide. Since
his debut in the '80s with the popular vocal group Los Chicos, Chayanne's
profile has risen precipitously. His solo breakthrough was his self-titled
sophomore release which spawned the hits "Fiesta En America" and "Peligro
De Amor" and earned the budding star a Grammy nomination for Best Latin
Pop Performance. Shortly thereafter, Chayanne began acting in various
Latin American television programs. His big break occurred in 1998 with
a major role opposite Vanessa Williams in the hit feature film Dance With
Me. A part alongside Calista Flockhart in FOX's "Ally McBeal" followed.
He is now a global spokesperson for Pepsi as well as for Kodak, American
Airlines, Panasonic and many other companies. Also, in 1994 People Magazine
named him one of the most beautiful people in the world.
Despite his busy schedule, Chayanne always finds the time to pursue altruistic
endeavors. He has been honored as an Ambassador to the United Nations
for the Immigrants Foundation. He also serves as an envoy to the High
Commissioner for the United Nations World Refugee Organization. Chayanne's
concern for the needs of children led him to become the Hispanic spokesperson
for the Starlight Foundation, whose mandate is to grant the wishes of
terminally ill children.

Most of the shows will be on sale Saturday, February 28th. Houston and
El Paso go on sale February 21st. Stay tuned for more specific, local
information regarding these cities / concerts. More performances to be
